Five differences between E-merchant warehousing and General warehousing

With the rapid growth of e-commerce business, as an important part of e-commerce, warehouse demand is also rising. Logistics enterprises in a variety of management software choice, there is always a sense of powerlessness, e-commerce warehousing and general traditional warehousing has a very big difference, and then understand the differences between the two.

1. Customer side

The customer group of traditional off-line warehousing is usually known store or dealer, usually the number of customers is small and the repetition rate is high, there is a certain order rule, while e-commerce warehouse is facing unknown terminal customers, and the quantity is huge. And the rules are difficult to master (almost no rules)

2. Order quantity

Traditional offline storage has a relatively small daily single quantity and a lower refresh frequency, but the average order volume is larger. On the contrary, e-commerce warehousing is generally several times higher than offline storage, or even tens of times higher than offline storage. Orders are also refreshed at a high rate per day (due to irregular orders issued by end customers), with a smaller average volume of orders.

3. Order accuracy rate

Because of facing the unknown terminal consumers, the order delivery accuracy requirement is much higher than the traditional offline storage, so e-commerce warehousing needs higher requirements in picking operations and review operations.

4. Order volume fluctuation

The orders of traditional offline storage are mostly distributed according to the plan, and the orders are known and planned. However, due to the influence of various online activities (such as 618, Shuang11, Shuang12), the order growth is very volatile. This also requires that the flexibility of various resources (such as venues, personnel, equipment, system accounts, etc.) be fully taken into account in warehousing planning.

5. Distribution mode

Traditional off-line warehousing is mainly based on logistics distribution (part load logistics, trunk logistics), courier as a supplement; and e-commerce mainly to express delivery (four links) also has a small number of large-scale e-commerce platform self-built logistics distribution system. For e-commerce companies, by using third-party warehousing and shipping companies such as warehousing, it is most obvious that they can reduce the management cost and asset investment of their own operations and reduce the risks of their own operations. It's obviously more appropriate than traditional offline storage.
