Siemens receives order form Emirates Skycargo


 

Emirates SkyCargo airline expands its cargo capacity with a new terminal at Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International Airport. The contract for the delivery of storage and conveyor technology as well as automation engineering and electrical equipment has been awarded to Siemens Logistics and Airport Solutions. The new terminal, whose commissioning is planned for May 2014, has been dimensioned in the first expansion stage for a throughput of approx. 700,000 tonnes of cargo per year. As part of the second expansion stage, the throughput is to be increased by additional 300,000 tonnes per year by 2015.

The new terminal building has an operating area of about 68,000 m2.Cargo containers and pallets can be accommodated on over 5,000 spaces. A warehouse-management and order-picking computer by Siemens controls the automated system.
