Japan's cross-border e-commerce market with China grows by 20 % every year


In recent years, the rapid growth is the cross-border e-commerce from Japan to China. Chinese tourists visiting Japan purchase special products in Japan and continue to penetrate through cross-border e-commerce purchases after returning home, resulting in a huge market growth.

According to calculations by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Industry and Technology, the cross-border e-commerce market from Japan to China is expected to grow by 25.9 % year on year in 2018 to 1.6339 trillion yen, and will maintain an annual growth rate of about 20 % until 2021.

Japanese cosmetics and food manufacturers have set up shop on Taobao, Tmall and Jingdong, and the e-commerce website has become an important sales channel for Japanese enterprises to explore the Chinese market.
